POTS or Plain Old Telephone Services represents traditional voice services running over copper lines carrying analog signals, i.e. quite simply, one phone number, one line -or- two phone numbers, two lines, and so on, with very little opportunity for innovation, advanced features or economies of scale. POTS remains a viable service option for the smallest offices, control and security applications.

TDM or Time Division Multiplexing is a mature network access method by which a single digital line for voice, data or both (integrated, converged) voice and data. A single Voice T1 service supports up to 24 digital lines for local, long distance, international calling. TDM efficiently allocates bandwidth, introduces economies of scale, features service level agreements, consolidated billing and optional data transport capability for dedicated internet and / or wide area networking applications.

IP or Internet Protocol offers further flexiblity for business phone, data and coverged applications. IP facilitates voice & data transport on a single network which translates to significant capital, operational, administrative and management cost reductions.
